YAKIMA – Defending champion King’s found a way to be No. 1 again in the boys Class A state tournament.
After being tied at halftime, the Knights used a 13-0 run to start the third quarter and earn a 60-46 victory over Seattle Christian on Saturday night at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
King’s (21-9) defeated Seattle Christian in the state title game for the second season in a row.
Jared Webb, who scored a game-high 16 points, broke the 17-17 halftime tie with a layup seconds into the second half and had five points during King’s decisive run. The Knights led by 16 points late in the game.
Darren Trautmann had 13 points and Ben Pawlak 10 for King’s. Webb also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. King’s outrebounded the Warriors 40-26.
Adam Collier and Nick Lindseth scored 14 points each for the Warriors (25-2).
Lindseth broke Seattle Christian’s scoreless stretch in the third quarter with eight straight points, which cut the Knights’ lead to seven, at 32-25, but the Warriors never got any closer.
Seattle Christian shot 30 percent (16-for-53), including 6-for-27 from 3-point range.
