LOS ANGELES — Rebekah Gardner hit two baskets in the final 14 seconds of regulation, and Mariah Williams scored five straight in overtime to help UCLA defeat Washington 79-73 Thursday night.
The Bruins (11-10, 6-4 Pac-12) trailed by eight points with 1:23 remaining in regulation. Gardner’s steal and layup cut the deficit to 65-64 with 14 seconds left. And after Mackenzie Argens hit 1 of 2 free throws for Washington (11-9, 3-7), Gardner scored again on a layup with 2 seconds left to force overtime.
UCLA led 69-68 in OT when Williams hit a jumper and a 3-pointer to make it a six-point advantage with 1:43 left.
Gardner led a balanced Bruins attack with 17 points. Markel Walker had 16, Thea Lemberger 15, Corinne Costa 13 and Williams 11. Walker also had 14 rebounds and seven assists.
Jazmine Davis led the Huskies with 23 points. Regina Rogers added 21 points and 12 rebounds.
