5-foot-11, 185 pounds, running back/defensive back

How does it feel to be a part of the East-West game?

After watching the game as a spectator last year, McPeters said he’s ready to experience the thrill of competing in it.

Favorite pro team and athlete

The NFL’s Chicago Bears, mainly because of their relentless defense. Painted his bedroom orange and black in their honor. (Don’t tell McPeters, but the team’s official colors are actually orange and navy blue!) Favorite Bears player is Devin Hester, a 5-11, 189-pound return specialist/defensive back. “He’s exciting,” said McPeters. “He’s fast – the fastest guy on (the video game) Madden 2008. (In reality) he doesn’t have great moves but somehow he has good vision.”

Favorite sports movie

“Miracle” (2004), starring Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson. It’s about coach Herb Brooks and his unlikely journey with the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey squad. McPeters said the film reminds him that on any given day you can surprise yourself and a highly favored opponent.

Non-sports hobby

Loves playing World of Warcraft role-playing games online. Has heard that as many as 10 million people worldwide play it. Players guide characters through mysterious realms, fight monsters and attempt other challenges.

Nickname

Buckwheat. It came from his cousin when they were watching the movie “The Little Rascals” (1994).

Favorite musicians/performers

Canadian rock band Rush, especially drummer Neil Peart. Preferred song: “Tom Sawyer.”

Non-sports dream job

Mortician. Said he likes studying science and would face new challenges every day.
