The Lake Stevens High School boys track and field team won the Wesco 4A championship Friday night.
Unfortunately, no one knew it until Saturday.
A scoring error at the site originally awarded the title to Jackson, but a review over the weekend determined Lake Stevens edged the Timberwolves, 332.5-331.
Glacier Peak coach Loren Childers discovered the error, which was the result of the computer scoring system not including points awarded in the preliminaries.
“The real hero here is Loren Childers …,” Lake Stevens track and field coach Jeff Page wrote in an e-mail. “(He) spent most of his Saturday tracking down and correcting the error.”
