National player of the year Nick Taylor, West Regional individual champion Richard Lee, Pac-10 freshman of the year Chris Williams and the rest of the University of Washington men’s golf team have accomplished just about every goal they’ve set for the 2010 season.
Today, the Huskies take the first step toward their ultimate goal.
UW is one of 30 teams at the NCAA championships that begin today and run through Sunday in Ooltewah, Tenn. The Huskies are seeded fourth, behind two teams they defeated at the Pac-10 championships last month — No. 1 Oregon and No. 2 Stanford — as well as third-seeded Oklahoma State.
Today, Wednesday and Thursday will see all 30 teams compete in stroke play, with the top eight advancing to match play Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Huskies have never won an NCAA title in men’s golf.
