Tyrone Willingham announced an addition to the roster on Monday, but it wasn’t any of the junior college players who we’ve been waiting for him to give us news on. Instead, Willingham said tailback Michael Houston has joined the team after transferring from Texas.
Houston is a 238-pound sophomore who joined the team on Monday and has started his five-practice acclimation period. He will redshirt this season and have three years remaining.
A Denver native, Houston had three carries for 27 yards as a true freshman for the national champions last season.
We’ll talk to Houston tomorrow about his move and have more about him then.
Willingham also said Greyson Gunheim will miss between 1 and 3 weeks with his knee injury, which he did not know the name of, though it’s likely some kind of sprain. That’s good news, as Gunheim could be ready for the season-opener against San Jose State. In his place, Brandon Ala and Caesar Rayford will run with the first unit.
Still no news on JC transfers Ashlee Palmer and Anthony Atkins.
