UW women clinch 5th in Pac-12 after 68-47 win over Buffs

SEATTLE — Kelsey Plum scored 18 points and Washington routed Colorado 68-47 on Saturday.

The Huskies (20-9, 11-7 Pac-12) clinched fifth place in the conference standings, and padded its NCAA Tournament resume having won three of its last four regular season games.

Plum, a junior who averages 26.8 points per game and is third in the nation in scoring, pushed her school single-season scoring record to 768.

Talia Walton chipped in 10 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for Washington.

Haley Smith had 14 points to lead Colorado (7-22, 2-16), which has lost seven of its last eight games.

The Huskies jumped out to a 19-6 first-quarter lead, stretched it to 32-16 at the break and cruised from there. Plum made half her shots and scored 13 points in the first half, but went cold in the second half on 1-of-13 shooting from the field.
