SEATTLE — The return of some University of Washington basketball legends to a Husky practice has been, in effect, locked out.
Less than two hours after UW coach Lorenzo Romar announced that his current team would scrimmage against some former greats such as Nate Robinson, Jon Brockman and Brandon Roy, the athletic department canceled the session. The school is looking into a possible minor NCAA infraction because it publicized the event, and the best recourse was to cancel the event.
The scrimmage was supposed to take place Wednesday afternoon and be open to the public.
Eight ex-players were scheduled to attend, Romar said: Robinson, Brockman, Roy, Isaiah Thomas, Spencer Hawes, Quincy Pondexter, Will Conroy and Mike Jensen.
