SEATTLE _ Just three weeks out of arthroscopic surgery, University of Washington freshman men’s basketball player Tony Wroten Jr. is back on the practice court and appears likely to play in the Huskies’ exhibition game on Friday night.
UW coach Lorenzo Romar said Monday that he “would be shocked if (Wroten) wasn’t” playing when the Huskies host Seattle Pacific in an exhibition game at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on Friday night.
Wroten, a former Garfield High School star who is the cornerstone of UW’s incoming recruiting class, underwent a minor scope on his right knee last month. He had surgery on the knee after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament as a junior in high school in 2009.
Wroten resumed practicing late last week and has continued to work out with the team.
“He moves around pretty good,” Romar said.
Romar added that Wroten and fellow point guard Abdul Gaddy will see plenty of action together this season, even though they play the same position.
