RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia College Savings Plan is getting into NASCAR.
The VCSP allows families to pay in advance on a monthly basis for a college. It will sponsor the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 11.
The race will be called the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 and will be run one night before the race that sets the 12-driver field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.
Mary Morris, CEO of the VCSP, says the broad appeal of NASCAR will give the plan vast exposure to let people know that affordable options for paying for college are available.
The VCSP has been in existence for 13 years and is now the largest 529 plan in the country, with almost 2 million accounts and more than $23 billion in assets under management
