Mike Venable is the new head softball coach at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
Venable was an Edmonds-Woodway assistant coach the past three seasons. The Blanchet High graduate was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1969 and played baseball for Santa Clara University, Bellevue Community College and the University of Washington before injuries ended his playing career.
Venable’s daughter, Brianna Venable, will assist her father. She was a four-year starter in softball at Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, Tenn.).
Mike Venable “has been a great asset to the fastpitch program at (Edmonds-Woodway) and I believe he can continue to improve the quality of the program,” Edmonds School District athletic director Terri McMahan said in a press release.
