I’m working on a Timeout story about Corinne Burke, a senior point guard on the Lake Stevens High School girls basketball team. The story will appear in Tuesday’s Herald.
I drove to Lake Stevens yesterday to talk to Burke, and after I finished an audio interview with her I recorded a video interview with Burke and her teammate/close friend Meghan Warbis near the end of the Vikings’ practice. Burke and Warbis are co-captains for Lake Stevens, which drilled Cascade 61-14 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 4A District 1 tournament. Next up for the Vikings is a winner-to-state-regional district semifinal against Jackson on Saturday.
Here is the video interview with Burke (point guard) and Warbis (a forward), who talk about their impressive district tournament win over Cascade, what the Vikings need to do to attain their goals and their respective approaches to being a team captain.
