Last night in Mukilteo I saw one of the craziest girls soccer games ever.
Facing a seemingly insurmountable 3-1 deficit with a few minutes to go, the Snohomish High School girls soccer team scored twice in the final 2 minutes of the second half, forced overtime and went on to beat the Kamiak Knights in a penalty-kick shootout, 4-3.

In the video clip below, Snohomish goalkeeper Melissa Dreves saves a penalty kick by Kamiak’s Megan Blocker, clinching victory for the Panthers and igniting a huge celebration and dogpile. With the win, Snohomish qualified for the 4A state tournament for the first time since 2007 and advanced to Thursday’s 4A District 1 championship game against Lake Stevens, which edged Jackson 1-0 on Monday.
