Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for April 19-25

The Athlete of the Week nominees for April 19-25. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with next week’s poll. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll. Last week’s winner is included below.

Alex Hristov | Kamiak | Boys soccer

Hristov, a senior, scored two goals in the Knights’ 4-3 victory over Monroe on April 13. He also scored a goal and added an assist in Kamiak’s 3-0 win over Meadowdale on April 16. He won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week poll for April 12-18 by claiming 1,592 of the 4,467 (35.6%) votes.

Isaak Abraham | Shorewood | Boys soccer

Abraham, a freshman, netted a hat trick for the Thunderbirds in their 5-0 win over Cascade on April 23. His performance helped Shorewood remain unbeaten this season.

Conrad Chisman | Stanwood | Boys golf

Chisman, a freshman, earned medalist honors by firing a 2-under par 34 in a match against Everett on April 20 at Camaloch Golf Course in Camano Island.

Michael Doran | Cascade | Boys track and field

Doran, a senior, won the the 200-meter race and was a member for the Bruins’ winning 4×100 relay team in a meet against Jackson on April 22. His time of 22.9 seconds in the 200 is tops in Wesco 3A this season, according to Athletic.net.

Cameron Dunn | Mountlake Terrace | Softball

Dunn, a sophomore, went 2-for-2 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in the Hawks’ 7-3 loss to Mariner on April 19. She followed that performance by going 2-for-4 with one RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Mountlake Terrace’s 16-6 win over Cedarcrest on April 21.

Dom Gray | Lake Stevens | Baseball

Gray, a senior, tossed nine innings on the mound and struck out four while allowing just one run in four hits as the Vikings beat Marysville Getchell 10-4 in a 10-inning game on April 19.

Aris Gross | Shorecrest | Baseball

Gross, a senior, threw a three-hit shutout as the Scots topped previously unbeaten Edmonds-Woodway 2-0 on April 19. Gross struck out seven batters and allowed only one walk.

Joby Johnson | Arlington | Baseball

Johnson, a senior, threw a five-inning perfect game and struck out 10 batters in the Eagles’ 21-0 win over Lakewood on April 21.

Gibby Marshall-Inman | Edmonds-Woodway | Baseball

Marshall-Inman, a junior, struck out eight and allowed just one run, two hits and one walk in a five-inning complete game as the Warriors beat Shorewood 11-1 on April 21. He also went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBI and one walk at the plate.

Kyle Seymour | Snohomish | Baseball

Seymour, a senior, went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI as the Snohomish offense exploded for a 24-12 win over Marysville Pilchuck on April 22.

Alexis Slater | Mariner | Softball

Slater, a junior, needed just three games to record 51 strikeouts as she helped the Marauders to a perfect 3-0 mark during the week. Slater’s most dominant performance came in a two-hit shutout against Lynnwood on April 21 when she struck out 21 batters.

Katie Stern and Hannah Wells | Snohomish | Girls tennis

Stern, a junior, and Wells, a freshman, teamed up to go 2-0 on the week for the Panthers in doubles matches. The pair picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win against Everett in the No. 3 doubles match on April 20. They also earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 doubles match against Shorecrest on April 23.

Adisen Stratton | Glacier Peak | Girls track and field

Stratton, a junior, won the 800- and 1600-meter races and was a member of the Grizzlies’ victorious 4×400 relay team in a meet against Lake Stevens on April 22. Her times of 2 minutes, 26.25 seconds in the 800 and 5:24.8 in the 1600 are best among Wesco 4A athletes this season, according to Athletic.net.

Rachel Sysum | Jackson | Softball

Sysum, a freshman, hit four home runs and drove in 12 runs while going 5-for-11 at the plate over three games for the Timberwolves this week, including a 2-for-4 effort with a pair of home runs and four RBI in a game against Cascade on April 23 and a grand slam that provided Jackson with all four of its runs in a 4-2 win over Kamiak on April 20. Sysum’s performances helped the Timberwolves go 3-0 during the week.
