Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24-30

The Athlete of the Week nominees for Jan. 24-30. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Tuesday’s paper. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll.

Bubba Palacol | Marysville Getchell | Boys Basketball

Palacol, a freshman, converted a three-point play with six seconds remaining to give Marysville Getchell a 56-55 win over Monroe in a Wesco 3A/2A matchup on Jan. 20. Palacol finished with 12 points. He won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week voting for Jan. 17-23 by claiming 795 (40.6%) of 1,957 votes.

Camden Blevins-Mohr | Lake Stevens | Boys Swim & Dive

Blevins-Mohr, a freshman, picked up wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 11.73 seconds) and 100 butterfly (57.15) to help the Vikings claim the Wesco 3A North title with victories of Glacier Peak and Snohomish on Jan. 27. He was also a member of the Vikings’ victorious 400 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.

Adria Lincoln | Monroe | Girls Basketball

Lincoln, a junior, posted a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds and added three assists in the Bearcats’ 56-42 loss to Stanwood on Jan. 24.

Kaeden McGlothin | Stanwood | Boys Basketball

McGlothin, a senior, hit a game-winning shot from just in front of midcourt at the buzzer to lift the Spartans to a 49-46 non-league win over Mount Vernon on Jan. 29. McGlothin also led Stanwood in scoring with 16 points in a 57-55 win over Archbishop Murphy on Jan. 27 and 14 points in a 59-58 victory over Monroe on Jan. 24.

Danny Savovic | Everett | Boys Basketball

Savovic, a junior, averaged 20.8 points over four games while helping the Seagulls to a 3-1 week. Savovic scored 19 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to help Everett earn a come-from-behind 69-64 win over Shorewood. He also had 24 points as the Seagulls rallied for a 69-65 overtime victory over Archbishop Murphy on Jan. 25.

Ella Sylvester | Everett | Girls Basketball

Sylvester, a senior, averaged 21 points over two contests to help the Seagulls extend their winning streak to six games. Sylvester netted game highs with 18 points in a 54-41 win over Archbishop Murphy on Jan. 25 and 24 points in a 59-31 victory over Shorewood on Jan. 28.

Adrian Seeber | Lynnwood | Boys Swim & Dive

Seeber, a senior, won the 50-yard freestyle (23.47 seconds) and 100 freestyle (52.00) events with a pair of state qualifying times at the Edmonds School District Championships on Jan. 29. He also helped Lynnwood’s 200 freestyle relay team to a victory.

Abi Varaday | Cedarcrest | Girls Wrestling

Varaday, a senior ranked third in the state at 135 pounds by Washington Wrestling Report, won the 135-pound title at the Lady Knight Invitational at Kamiak High School on Jan. 29. Varaday beat White River’s Nicole Poussier, ranked second in the same weight class, in a 5-3 overtime decision in the championship match.

Dakota Wilkinson | Granite Falls | Boys Wrestling

Wilkinson, a junior, won the 160-pound title at the Emerald Sound Conference Championships. He pinned Concrete’s Jakob Lofton in 48 seconds and Seattle Academy’s Asa Gilmore at the 2:38 mark to claim the title.
