Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for March 2-8

The Athlete of the Week nominees for March 2-8. Which player voted first-team all-tournament at state basketball had the most impressive week? Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Wednesday’s paper.

Noelani Tupua | Lake Stevens girls basketball

The sophomore’s 22 points, 13 rebounds and seven steals led the Vikings to a win over Issaquah and a trip to the Tacoma Dome. Tupua won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Feb. Feb. 23-March 1 by claiming 233 (61.80%) of the 377 votes.

This week’s nominees

Kaleo Anderson | King’s girls basketball

The 6-foot junior point guard was named the Class 1A tournament MVP after averaging 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 blocked shots during three games at the Yakima Valley SunDome, where the Knights finished second.

Cam Hiatt | Edmonds-Woodway boys basketball

The 6-foot-4 senior guard led the Warriors to the Class 3A title game and runnerup finish by averaging 25.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and two steals during three games at the Tacoma Dome.

Josiah Lee | Glacier Peak boys basketball

The 6-foot-2 senior guard averaged 21 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while leading the Grizzlies to the Class 4A state semifinals and third-place finish at the Tacoma Dome.

Davien Parks | Tulalip Heritage boys basketball

The junior guard led the Hawks to a fourth-place finish at the Class 1B tournament with averages of 19 points and four rebounds in four games at Spokane Arena.

Brynna Pukis | Glacier Peak girls basketball

The 5-foot-6 senior guard averaged 19 points and 2.5 assists in four games at the Tacoma Dome while leading the No. 13-seed Grizzlies to the Class 4A state semifinals and a fifth-place finish.
