This week’s nominees

Glacier Peak at Monroe, Friday, 7 p.m.

Former Wesco 4A foes square off in a non-league clash between two of the area’s top football programs. The Grizzlies, ranked ninth in Class 4A, are coming off their 10th straight victory over rival Snohomish. The Bearcats are looking for their first win after falling 55-36 to Ferndale.

Edmonds-Woodway vs. Meadowdale at Edmonds Stadium, Friday, 8 p.m.

Edmonds School District rivals meet in the conference opener for both teams. Preseason Wesco 3A South favorite Edmonds-Woodway has won the past two matchups in this series. Both teams are coming off Week 1 losses.

Oak Harbor at Arlington, Friday, 7 p.m.

The Eagles open Wesco 3A North play against the visiting Wildcats. Arlington beat Edmonds-Woodway 35-7 in its season opener. Oak Harbor is coming off a 28-12 win over Cedarcrest.

Mount Vernon at Marysville Getchell, Friday, 7 p.m.

The Chargers look to open the season 2-0 for the first time in program history when they host the Bulldogs in their Wesco 3A North opener. Marysville Getchell beat Meadowdale 27-7 in Week 1. Mount Vernon is in search of its first win after losing 44-0 to Sedro-Woolley.
