RENTON — The Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line lost some experience and gained some on Friday morning.
Veteran guard Mike Wahle was placed on injured reserve because of shoulder problems, while the team added center Steve McKinney to take his roster spot.
McKinney, 33, has started 133 games during an 11-year career with Indianapolis and Houston. The Texans cut him in March after he underwent knee surgery.
McKinney will add depth at center, where Steve Vallos has been forced into the starting role because of season-ending injuries to Chris Spencer and Chris Gray.
Wahle, 31, was the Seahawks’ starting left guard when the season opened but has since had problems with his surgically repaired right shoulder. By going on IR, he is ineligible to play again this season.
Wahle is the 12th Seahawks player to go on IR this season. Three of them were starting offensive linemen when the season started.
