OLYMPIA – Victory could be very sweet for Gov. Chris Gregoire if the Seahawks beat the Bears this Sunday in Chicago.
A Seattle win means she will be feasting on 17th Street BBQ and Cozy Dogs, two celebrated staples of Illinois roadside cuisine.
If they lose she will be sending a shipment east of Washington state apples and smoked salmon.
Those were the terms of a friendly bet placed Friday between Gregoire and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Gregoire and her husband Mike are known football fans and will be cheering the Seahawks on from the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia.
Though the Seahawks are underdogs by 8 points, they made history with a first-time Super Bowl appearance last year and pulled off a miracle win against the Dallas Cowboys last week.
The Bears thrashed the Seahawks 37-6 in October. Blagojevich is hoping for a repeat of the experience.
Gregoire is confident that won’t happen and the team will win, bringing pride and provisions to Washington.
“I can’t wait to serve Illinois barbecue and hot dogs for the NFC Championship game! Go Hawks!” she said in a press release Friday.
