TACOMA — The Edmonds-Woodway boys basketball team moved into the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state tournament Wednesday with a 58-40 victory over Kentridge in the Tacoma Dome.
The Warriors (20-4) play the winner of Wednesday’s first-round game between Garfield (17-7) and defending state champion Ferris (25-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.
James Conti (17 points, three assists, three steals) and Sean Laue (12 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals) helped E-W get past the Conquerors, the 2007 runners-up. Last year, E-W lost to Kentridge in the first round. This time E-W started well and led 23-13 at halftime. The Warriors shot 46 percent (22-of-48) from the field.
With the loss, Kentridge fell to 21-6.
