Warriors snap two-game losing streak, beat Clippers 107-92

OAKLAND, Calif. — Corey Maggette scored 20 points against his former team as the Golden State Warriors ended a two-game slide Sunday night with a 107-92 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Anthony Morrow added 17 points and Kelenna Azubuike had 16 points for the Warriors, who beat the Clippers for the fifth straight time. Andris Biedrins had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Eric Gordon scored 21 points for the Clippers, which lost their seventh straight on the road and 15th in 17 games overall. Al Thornton added 17 points and Ricky Davis had 15. Rookie center DeAndre Jordan grabbed a season-best 18 rebounds to go with eight points.

The Warriors led 55-44 at the half and took a 20-point lead — 84-64 — into the final quarter.

Monta Ellis, in his second game of the season, hit a 3-pointer to spark a 23-5 run to end the first quarter, reversing an eight-point deficit. The Warriors eventually built an 18-point lead on Ronnie Turiaf’s dunk midway into the second quarter.

Ellis scored 20 points in his first action of the season Friday against the Cavs. He’s been out since suffering an ankle injury in a motorized scooter accident last August.

After two consecutive losses, Golden State had to enjoy its laugher. Turiaf stopped Thornton from dunking midway through the final period with a spectacular block that earned high-fives from his teammates.

The Warriors dropped each of their previous two games in the closing seconds. LeBron James’ 19-footer beat the buzzer to give Cleveland a 106-105 victory, two days after Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jeff Green hit a banked shot at the buzzer, handing the Warriors a 122-121 setback.

Gordon set a franchise record for rookies with 41 points in the Clippers’ last game.
