CONWAY, S.C. — The University of Washington baseball team beat Coastal Carolina University 11-6 on Saturday in an NCAA Tournament regional contest.
The Huskies scored six runs in the the second inning, a rally capped by a grand slam by Nick Kahle.
“It was awesome,” Kahle said in a news release, “and with the crowd getting involved, it was big moment for some momentum change.”
Joe Wainhouse hit his team-leading 16th home run of the season in the sixth inning for UW.
The Huskies (32-23) will play at 9 a.m. Sunday against either the Chanticleers, the region’s top seed, or Connecticut, which UW defeated Friday. If UW wins, it will advance to the super regional round.
