Here’s more news for all of you wrestling junkies: Washington Wrestling Report released new girls state rankings last week, and the list includes three grapplers from local schools.
*JoMae Alewine, Lake Stevens: No. 2 at 103 pounds
*Julia Perry, Monroe: No. 2 at 119 pounds
*Tina Alter, Oak Harbor: No. 2 at 160 pounds
Based on their No. 2 rankings, Alewine, Perry and Alter appear to be state-title contenders. The dual-meet season is winding down so postseason action will be here soon.
It all concludes Feb. 20-21 with Mat Classic, the state championships at the Tacoma Dome.
