KANSAS CITY, Kan.— The NASCAR truck race at Kansas Speedway was suspended due to thunderstorms and will resume on Monday.
Ron Hornaday Jr. earned the pole for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 Saturday morning, but the race lasted just 52 laps after heavy storms moved into the area.
About 30 minutes after the race was called, tornado sirens went off at the track and a local TV station showed a twister on the ground to the southwest. Most of the fans had already left by then.
The race will pick up where it left off at 7 a.m. Monday, with Mike Skinner leading. Skinner’s Randy Moss Motorsports teammate, Tayler Malsam of Mill Creek, Wash., will restart 12th.
