EVERETT — Charlie Welch hit a three-run home run to cap a four-run fifth inning and the Everett AquaSox beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-3 on Saturday night to snap a brief two-game losing skid.
After Everett took a 4-0 lead after the fifth inning, Tri-City responded with three runs in the sixth to pull within a run at 4-3, but Justin Lavey hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the AquaSox an insurance run and they held on from there.
Victor Labrada also hit a solo home run in the game, and Noelvi Marte, Dariel Gomez and Trent Tingelstad all had two hits for the AquaSox.
Prelander Berroa started on the mound for Everett (30-31) and didn’t allow a run over five terrific innings. Berroa allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out eight.
Mitch Nay had two of the four total hits in the game for Tri-City (27-31).
