EVERETT — Charlie Welch continued his hot hitting with a two-run home run, and the Everett AquaSox edged the Spokane Indians 5-4 on Tuesday night at Funko Field to extend their winning streak to three games.
Since returning from the injured list on Aug. 14, Welch has batted 11-for-24 with two home runs and 14 RBI in six games.
Victor Labrada had an RBI single and Ben Ramirez added an RBI double in a key three-run fifth inning that gave the AquaSox a 5-2 lead.
Mateo Gil and Trevor Boone drove in runs in the sixth inning as the Canadians cut their deficit to 5-4.
But Leon Hunter Jr., Tim Elliott and Jorge Benitez eached tossed a scoreless frame in relief in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, respectively, to shut the door and give Everett (53-61) the win.
Colin Simpson finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI for Spokane (58-54).
