Wesco South leaders play to a tie

EVERETT — One team was looking to get revenge from a preseason loss. The other was trying to pull into a first-place tie in the Western Conference South Division.

Neither happened.

Shorewood (3-1-1 league) came out of the gate strong, scoring two goals in the first 13 minutes of play.

George John scored in the fifth minute and Chris Morris scored eight minutes later to give the T-Birds a 2-0 lead.

Minutes later Mariner (4-0-1) bounced back when Michael DeSimone scored on a penalty kick after a Shorewood player fouled a Mariner player.

Mariner tied the score in the 52nd minute when DeSimone scored again on a penalty kick, this time after a handball.
