NEW YORK — Serena Williams moved a win away from her second straight U.S. Open title Friday, rolling through Li Na 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinals.
On Sunday, Williams will play second-seeded Victoria Azarenka in a rematch of last year’s final.
Williams won the first seven games against Li to extend her streak to 24 straight games without a loss.
Finally, fifth-seeded Li broke through, then actually went up a break for a 2-1 lead in the second set. But Williams won five of the next six games to close out the match.
In search of her 17th major title, Williams has lost a total of 16 games at Flushing Meadows this year.
She’ll be playing in her 21st Grand Slam final.
