After an 0-7 start, it became obvious that Tyrone Willingham would be out after this season, and today it became official as Willingham and athletic director Scott Woodward made an announcement that Willingham will step down after the season.
Willingham said the decision was not his, and Woodward, who has said all year he didn’t want to make an in-season change, said he hopes this will end the speculation and help the team move forward for the last five games.
Woodward said discussions between he and Willingam started last Sunday and the decision was reached Yesterday.
Players had not yet been told of decision prior to Monday’s announcement.
Video of the press conference should be up here at gohuskies.com soon if it’s not already up.
