PORTLAND — Gage Goncalves scored twice, but four different Portland players scored as the Winterhawks pulled into a tie for first place in the U.S. Division with a 4-3 win over the Everett Silvertips on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Goals from Jake Gricius and Tyson Kozak staked the Winterhawks to a 2-0 lead after the first period of play.
Goncalves scored his first goal early in the second period before Lane Gilliss scored to give Portland a 3-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Seth Jarvis scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 9:02 in the third to give the Winterhawks a 4-1 lead.
Goncalves and Bryce Kindopp scored in the third period, but Everett’s last-gasp rally fell just short.
Dustin Wolf stopped 30 of 34 shots for the Silvertips (15-5-1-0).
Joel Hofer stopped 28-of-31 shots for the Winterhawks (14-5-1-2).
