BOISE, Idaho — The Everett AquaSox overcame a big fifth inning by the East Division leading Boise Hawks to earn a 4-3 victory on Friday night.

Everett got on the scoreboard first in the top of the fifth inning when Jharmidy De Jesus homered to right field to give the AquaSox a 1-0 lead. They added one more run later in the inning when Mario Yepez scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Frogs lead didn’t last long, the Hawks scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The first run scored on an RBI double by Kenny Socorro, which prompted Everett manager Scott Steinmann to go to bullpen, bringing in Max Krakowiak in place of starter Stephen Kohlscheen.

But Krakowiak didn’t last long.

The first batter he faced, Pin-Chieh Chen hit an RBI double to center field to tie the score 2-2. Krakowiak recorded two straight outs following Chen’s double, but then issued two straight walks to load the bases. Steinmann again went to the bullpen, bringing in Tim Griffin, who walked in a run before putting an end to the fifth-inning damage.

The AquaSox, however, responded right away in the top of the sixth inning when James Wood hit two-out RBI double to tie the score 3-3.

Everett got the game-winner in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI triple by Wood, who batted 2-for-4 with the double, triple and two RBI.
