PULLMAN — Washington State had its first Pacific-10 Conference win in sight, but a late charge by the Wildcats gave Arizona a 73-63 victory Thursday night.
The Cougars dropped to 3-16 on the season and 0-8 in the Pac-10, and the Wildcats improved to 7-12 overall and 1-7 in league play.
“It’s too bad we couldn’t close it out, but we keep taking steps forward,” WSU head coach June Daugherty said.
UCLA 63, Oregon 59: At Los Angeles, the Bruins outscored Oregon 19-2 late in the second half. The Bruins had trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, 49-35, with 10:10 to play, but forced the Ducks into 18 second-half turnovers to key the comeback.
USC 59, Oregon State 47: At Los Angeles, two Trojans scored in double figures, led by a career-high 13 points from freshman Kari LaPlante and 10 points from sophomore Hailey Dunham.
