Thompson, who hails from Ladera Ranch, Calif., led the Cougars to a pair of victories over Eastern Washington and IPFW last week. He averaged 30.5 points per game. He also added 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in the two wins.
In Monday’s 67-61 win over Eastern Washington, Thompson scored 24 points and pulled down six rebounds. In Thursday’s 89-70 victory over IPFW, he scored a career-high 37 points, shooting 15-for-20 from the field and a perfect five of five from the free throw line.
This is the first weekly honor for Thompson and Washington State’s 20th all-time Player of the Week.
