LYNNWOOD — Road work ahead.

The city has started its improvement project for 44th Avenue W.

According to Les Rubstello, the city’s transportation manager, the renovation of 44th Avenue W. includes adding an additional southbound I-5 on-ramp and will add right turn lanes to the north, south and west legs of the intersection of 44th Avenue W. and 196th Street SW.

“During the first few weeks, work will include drilling and placing signal bases at 200th and 196th and cutting trenches across the roadway at the same intersections,” Rubstello said. The estimated time of completion is September, Rubstello said.

All the work will be done at night, after 8 p.m. and although up to two lanes may be closed at a time, two way traffic will be preserved for the public’s convenience, he said.

According to Rubstello, this project is funded primarily by a grant from the Washington state Transportation Improvement Board.
