FEDERAL WAY

Edmonds-Woodway junior Ali Abadi set school records in medal-winning performances in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly at the state 4A swim and dive meet.

Abadi took third in the butterfly with a All-American consideration time of 51.34 seconds in exceptionally fast race, Saturday, Feb. 21 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

“It was good,” said Abadi, who placed eighth last year. “It was my first All-American consolation time. I was happy with it.”

Cody Roberts of Richland, the 4A swimmer of the meet, broke Uger Taner’s 17-year-old state butterfly record with an All-American time of 47.81 seconds.

Abadi, who finished eighth last year in the I.M., took fifth in a time 1:59.22

Abadi said he hopes to come home with a title next year in either of his top events.

Edmonds-Woodway’s 200-medley relay team of Abadi, Daniel Kissinger, Michael Lesaca and Mike Stepenski finished 20th overall with a time of 1:49.32.
