Fats Waller’s Tony-Award Winning Broadway Musical “Ain’t Misbehavin’” takes to the stage of the Northshore Performing Arts Center Sunday, March 12.
The Irving Street Rep production features Vivian Jett from the original Broadway production of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” plus special guest artist, Martine Allard, who was nominated for a Tony Award for her role in the Broadway hit, “The Tap Dance Kid.” A. Curtis Farrow directs and choreographs.
“Ain’t Misbehavin’” is a journey through the Fats Waller songbook and Harlem in its heyday. With period costumes, complete with bowlers, spats, ermine, and pearls, the five-member cast transforms the theatre into a Harlem jazz hall as they sing and dance through 30 Waller show-stoppers, taking the audience from honky tonk dives to the Cotton Club, Tin Pan Alley and the Waldorf.
The production includes songs such as “Honeysuckle Rose,” the poignant “Mean to Me” and “Black and Blue,” the comedic “That Ain’t Right” and “Your Feets Too Big,” as well as the naughty “Find Out What They Like,” and the “Viper’s Drag.” After opening on Broadway, “Ain’t Misbehavin’” won four Tony Awards, including best musical.
“Ain’t Misbehavin’” performs 7 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at the Northshore Performing Arts Center, 18125 92nd Ave. NE, Bothell. Tickets are $29.50 and $39.50 and can be purchased through TicketsWest’s 24-hour box office, 206-632-8499 or toll free, 800-992-8499 (TIXX); by visiting TicketsWest outlets at QFC stores; or online at www.npacf.org.
