Alderwood Little League’s 11- and 12-year-old softball all-stars came within one game of playing in the World Series, after sweeping 13 games in a row to claim the Washington District 1 title, the Washington state title and the West Region Division 1 title.
The team was formed by selecting the top players from just two regular season teams for a total of 25 girls. The players on the team were Jessie Broucek, catcher/utility; Bryttney Gega, third/second/pitcher; Chloe Goudzwaard, third; Lindsay Hendricks, center field; Jordan Holmes, second/utility; Lauren Jacobsen, shortstop; Stephanie Kuzminsky, right field; Alison McConnaughey, left field; Julia Nealer, pitcher; Kori Seidlitz, pitcher/first; Makayla Sybrandt, utility/pitcher; Kayla Watson, catcher/pitcher; Jordan Wilcox, pitcher/second.
The team manager/coach was Randy Seidlitz and the coaches were Steve Gega and Matt Wilcox.
All of the travel and living expenses for the players were paid for by their families.
