LYNNWOOD — The first section of the “Terraces at Alderwood,” recently opened and it is a milestone for the expanding mall.
The Terraces is the all-new, 24,000 square-foot outdoor retail and leisure lifestyle area at the Southeast entrance of the Alderwood Mall.
Jamba Juice and Starbucks were the first tenants for the Terraces on April 30, said Tamera Wachter, senior marketing manager for Alderwood.
“The addition of the new retail area creates a distinctive indoor-outdoor flow at the entrance of Alderwood’s current Terraces Food Court area,” Wachter said.
The Terraces at Alderwood will include elevated outdoor seating areas in an upscale garden plaza setting. The area will also include a variety of shops, restaurants and a multiplex theater as it is completed over the course of the year, she said.
A massive, floor-to-ceiling indoor/outdoor stone fireplace marks the gateway between the “Terraces at Alderwood” and the Terraces Food Court.
The April 30 opening of Starbucks (the second at Alderwood) and Snohomish County’s first Jamba Juice, offering diverse menu of healthy fruit smoothies and fresh squeezed juices, kicks off a flurry of openings in Alderwood’s existing retail environment. The first week of May the Limited Too and Brookstone stores also opened.
Limited Too specializes in apparel and accessories targeting fashion-conscious girls, while Brookstone features distinctive, high-quality products not widely available from other retailers.
Construction activity continues at a rapid pace at the 165,000 square foot “Village at Alderwood” on the site of the old Nordstrom store. The new retail area will contain an array of upscale shops and restaurants in a protected environment. Steel frames currently outline the storefronts for the area’s line-up of retailers.
Upon its completion in November, Alderwood will encompass 1.4 million square feet and will add more than 50 major retailers, boutiques, destination restaurants and a state-of-the-art theater complex.
Previously announced tenants for the “Village at Alderwood” and “Terraces at Alderwood” include Pottery Barn, J. Jill, Coldwater Creek, REI, Chico’s, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, McGrath’s Fish House, Borders Books, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Ravenna Gardens, Optical Illusions, Claim Jumper, Williams Sonoma and a new Gene Juarez Salon, Wachter said.
The center boasts several major anchor stores, including the new Nordstrom, Bon-Macy’s, JC Penney and Sears. Alderwood currently has more than 150 stores, restaurants and other businesses.
