Picnic with a literary legend as the Lynnwood Arts Commission concludes its annual season of Shakespeare in the Park with GreenStage’s production of “All’s Well That Ends Well” Thursday, Aug. 5.
In the classic story, having cured the King of France, Helena earns the right to marry her love, Bertram. He does not share her love, and slips off to Tuscany. Helena follows and meets the object of his affection, Diana. In the famous “bed trick,” Helena trades places with Diana. Challenged by the King and Diana and caught in his own lies, Bertram repents and vows his love for Helena.
Since 1989, GreenStage has produced more than half of Shakespeare’s plays. The company has also produced other classical plays, brought original scripts to the Seattle Fringe Theater Festival, and in 2001 began a project of producing an American Classic play every winter. In producing plays, GreenStage’s goal is to focus on story and characters, capturing the life and truth in the plays and sharing it with the audience.
The show begins at 7 p.m. in Lynndale Park’s Amphitheater, 18927 72nd Ave. W., Lynnwood. In case of rain, performances are moved to Edmonds Community College, Triton Union Building Second Floor, 20200 68th St. SW, Lynnwood.
Shakespeare In The Park is sponsored in part by the City of Lynnwood Arts Commission, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, Edmonds Community College Student Programs and a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.
