The Edmonds School District is seeking applicants to fill the vacated seat left by school board member Doug Fair. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 9.
Fair’s term expires in 2007, however the board is accepting applications to fill the District 1 position on an interim basis, until the general election in November. At that time, the voter-elected board member will complete the remainder of Fair’s four-year term.
Anyone interested in serving the remainder of Fair’s term is encouraged to apply for the interim position and also file with the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office to run for election. A special filing session for interested persons will take place Sept. 14-16. There will not be a primary election for this position, regardless of the number of applicants.
The school board will conduct interviews for the interim opening on Sept. 12 and will appoint a person to serve until the elected board member is sworn in.
All applicants must live within the boundaries of District 1, the southwestern-most portion of the school district.
Residents who meet the requirements may send a letter of interest by 5 p.m., Sept. 9 to the attention of JoAnn Kerns, Edmonds School District, 20420 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood, WA 98036 or call 425-670-7003 for more information.
