Senior center

seeks fundraisers

The Mill Creek Senior Center Foundation is looking for volunteers with experience in fundraising. The foundation was established to support construction of a senior center. Residents of the Mill Creek Community Association voted in June to allow the foundation to build a facility near the country club.

The foundation now is seeking assistance with fundraising efforts. For more information or to volunteer, call John Hudgins at 425-742-9125.

Mayor hosts document destruction day

Mill Creek Mayor Donna Michelson and Shred-It, a document disposal service, are having the second annual Document Destruction Day from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at City Hall.

Identity theft protection agencies recommend destroying any bank statements and ATM receipts that have been around for more than four years, expired insurance policies, cancelled checks and other personal information that you don’t need for tax or insurance purposes.

Bring any personal documents you wish to destroy and they will get shredded on site free.

Applause Studio has some new moves

The Applause Studio in Mill Creek is offering — in addition

to its established classes in jazz,

tap, popular dance and other performing arts — several new opportunities.

Beginning this season:

A children’s choir under the direction of Chari Bennett; a teen and adult vocal jazz ensemble under the direction of Edmonds-Woodway High School choral director Charlotte Reese, a teen and adult hip hop dance team coached by local sensation Albee Abigania; and classes for young Russian-speaking students taught by ballet instructor Irena Voykhansky.

Applause Studio also welcomes new dance instructors Joyleen Laurence, NYU graduate Lisa Benjamin, and piano instructor Jolinda Creary.
