King County Councilman hosts Town Hall

King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson will host a Town Hall meeting about Public Health on Thursday, May 3, at Meridian Park Elementary School, 17077 Meridian Ave. N. A public reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Ferguson will be joined by the new director of Seattle/King County Public Health, Doctor David Fleming. This is an opportunity for residents to learn more about King County’s public health programs.

Shoreline Cinco de Mayo dinner, dance

The Shoreline Chamber of Commerce will hold a Cinco de Mayo dinner and dance at 5:30 p.m on Saturday, May 5.

The celebration will be at the Masonic Lodge located at the southwest corner of North 185th and Linden in Shoreline. Advance tickets are $30 per person, or $210 per table for eight people.

Come enjoy an Old-Mexican-style dinner, along with beer and wine, music, dancing, and a dancing demonstration to put you in the mood to hit the dance floor.

LFP police Special Olympics fundraiser

On May 11-12, Lake Forest Park Police officers will be sitting on the rooftop of the Bank of America in the Lake Forest Park Shopping Center to raise money for Special Olympics. Chief Dennis Peterson and Lake Forest Park officers will be donating their time to raise money for this cause.

The Cop on a Roof event will be on Friday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., then again on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a dunk tank on site on Saturday for dunking officers and the Chief of Police.

Visit and shop at Relay for Life boutique

The perfect gift for Mother’s Day could be found at the Relay for Life event on the King’s High School campus in Shoreline on Saturday, May 5.

Handmade items and other gifts will be for sale at the Relay for Life event at Woolsey Stadium, Kings High School. Beginning at 10 a.m. attendees can enjoy coffee beverages at the Calico Coffee Espresso Bar while they shop.

Work Party at Cole Nature Park

Volunteers are needed to clear blackberries and other invasive plants to help develop a wetland meadow at Lake Forest Park’s Cole Nature Park, Northeast 30th Street and Northeast 166th Street, on Saturday, April 28.

The work party will be from 9 a.m. to noon with lunch provided at City Hall. Interested participants should bring work gloves, shovels, and hoe and wear appropriate weather attire. Students interested in working at Earth Smart events and receiving community service hours should send an e-mail to tnesoff@cityoflfp.com.

The Lake Forest Park Plant Sale is back

The Lake Forest Park Garden Club, WSFGC, will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at a private residence, 5724 NE 190th St.

The sale will feature perennial favorites, annuals, shrubs, tomatoes, herbs and groundcovers. For more information, call 425-486-5568.
