Terrace library

book sale Saturday

Love books? Bargains in used books and other media will be available at the Mountlake Terrace Public Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7.

The sale will be held in the Reception Room at the Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. in the Civic Center next to City Hall. Friends of the Mountlake Terrace Library, a non-profit organization, is sponsoring the event.

Materials to be sold include both those withdrawn from the Sno-Isle Libraries and donations from the community. Proceeds from the sale will be used to support library programs.

Bank names new

Alderwood manager

Rick Vaughan has been named Community Banking District Manager for Wells Fargo’s North Puget Sound District.

Vaughan will be based in Wells Fargo’s Alderwood Mall site.

As district manager, Vaughan will oversee 105 employees in 12 banks: Alderwood, Clinton, Coupeville, Edmonds, Freeland, Lake City, Lynnwood, North Oak Harbor, Oak Harbor, Richmond Beach, Wedgewood and West Lynnwood.

Sheriff to offer

citizens academy

Snohomish County residents interested in learning more about their Sheriff’s Office and how it operates should sign up now for a 12-week citizens’ academy scheduled to begin in late April.

The 12-week course is Thursday evenings for 3 1/2 hours, with optional Saturday sessions for classes on driving an emergency vehicle and shooting at the range. About 25 spots are available. The class location will be announced at a later date.

Boxing nights

coming to Nile

The Nile Shrine Center at Lake Ballinger starts its Saturday Night at the Fights series beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th at the Nile Shrine Center at Lake Ballinger, 6601 244th St. SW. in Mountlake Terrace.

The event is sponsored by the Shurtah Unit of the Nile Shriners, and sanctioned by the American Boxing Association.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children over age 12. Children under age 12 will not be admitted.

Boxers will arrive from all parts of the state, with matches based upon age and weight. And they’ll all wear safety gear.

Care center remodel

completion in July

Leisure Care is remodeling its Brighton Court senior care center in Lynnwood, 6520 196th St.

Work is expected to be completed in July. The renovation of nearly 60 apartments will include a new gym and bistro.
