Easter egg

hunts aplenty

With the Easter holiday approaching, you might be interested in knowing about two Mountlake Terrace-area egg hunts coming up next month.

The Mountlake Terrace Senior Center is hosting the city of Mountlake Terrace’s annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Evergreen Playfields, 22205 56th Ave. W

The free event is for kids ages 10 and under, accompanied by their parents.

Egg-seeking children are expected to brave rain and wind to search for the coveted “prize eggs.” Make sure to bring a basket to collect your eggs.

Nile Shriners of Mountlake Terrace will hold their own Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, on the Nile Shrine Center’s picnic grounds, located on the south end of Lake Ballinger.

It’s a free, annual event and those who find lucky eggs will win special plastic eggs.

The egg hunt will be divided into three age groups. All who attend will be welcomed by the Nile clowns and other units.

For more information, call the Nile Shrine office at 425-774-9611.

‘Barber of Seville’ showing at college

Northwest Opera in Schools Etcetera (or N.O.I.S.E for short) is performing selections from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at Edmonds Community College’s Triton Union Building, 20200 68th Ave. W.

The performance is part of the city of Lynnwood’s Fantastic Fridays Family Entertainment Series. Seating is limited; tickets are available at the door. Performances are free, with a suggested donation of $3 for adults, $2 for children.

“The Barber of Seville” is a classic operatic comedy about love, mistaken identities and a whole lot of shaving cream.

Fantastic Fridays performances are sponsored in part by the city of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, Lynnwood Arts Commission, Edmonds Community College Student Programs, Rock-It Music and a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.

Help the scouts;

donate food

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be collecting donations for local food banks from Friday, March 23, through April 6 at Albertson’s, Fred Meyer, QFC, Rogers Market, Top Food &Drug and Safeway grocery stores. Scouts will be in front of the stores the weekends of March 24-25 and March 31-April 1. Last year, area scouts collected more than 26,000 cans of food and hope to double that this year.
