A formal program, to include guest speakers and music, is from 6 to 7 p.m.

Firefighters practice rescue drills
Following a rescue techniques class at Snohomish County Fire District 1’s Lake Serene Fire Station, firefighters went across the street to the boat launch, where Lt. Rob Fisher of Fire District 7 braved the icy waters in a dry suit to play the role of a victim.
Firefighters practiced using a throw line to reach the victim. They also set up a floating rescue line made from a life ring attached to a fire hose filled with air to aid in retrieving a victim.
Never walk on a frozen lake or pond and, if you see someone fall through ice, don’t attempt the rescue — call 911; give an exact location. And, if you can, throw a life ring, flotation device or rope to the vicitm. Don’t risk injury or death by putting yourself in danger.
