Food Frenzy is successful
Folks were feeling the heat the last two weeks of July — and it wasn’t because the thermometer was breaking records, either. The scorcher was Food Lifeline’s annual Food Frenzy competition between local law, accounting and public sector organizations to raise food and funds for hungry children. Through creative office antics and fund raising activities, participants raised enough money and food to provide 860,000 meals for hungry children in Western Washington.
Participating organizations went all out for hungry children — from office auctions, pastry and dessert sales to an “American Idol”- style karaoke competition. The event raised $1.5 million dollars worth of food — a first for the annual fund raiser. The combined efforts ensured that children have food during the summer months, when they no longer have access to free and reduced-price school meals.
