A lively original watercolor, “Colors of Life,” by well-known local artist Win Bainbridge will be on display and open for auction bids beginning April 15 at the Fabric of Life Boutique in Edmonds.
Proceeds from the auction, sponsored by Renaissance Women, will be used to fund literacy and work training programs for women in developing countries.
The painting features a colorful array of native African gourds, beads, pottery, weaving and other traditional crafts. Framed and mounted, it measures approximately 31-inches square.
Silent auction bidding forms will be available at the boutique. Minimum bid is $400, and the “buy it now” bid is $950. Bidding closes at 3 p.m. May 21.
The auction benefits the Edmonds-based Fabric of Life Foundation, founded by Carol Schillios. The foundation’s goal is to “help a young woman go from beggar to businesswoman in 18 months.” To do this, Fabric of Life supports projects that teach capable young African women literacy and income-generating job skills. They improve their quality of life and their new skills empower them to support themselves and their families as they break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient.
The Renaissance Women of Edmonds, sponsors of the Win Bainbridge art auction, are known for their popular teas and fashion shows to support women’s causes, including domestic violence services and aid for unwed mothers, as well as backing for women in the arts.
