Edmonds arts will receive a boost as a result of the latest grant cycle from the Hazel Miller Foundation.

The Edmonds Center for the Arts, Olympic Ballet Theatre and the Village Theatre were each awarded funding from the foundation that supports projects serving youth and the arts.

The Edmonds Center for the Performing Arts received $2,500 which will be used to bridge the funding gap for the 2010-11 season.

Funding granted to the Olympic Ballet Theatre will be used to subsidize ticket costs and attract more than 1,200 school-aged audience groups for the December performances of “The Nutcracker.” The ballet group received $1,500.

Village Theatre’s $1,750 donation will be earmarked for Edmonds School District student scholarships to attend the Issaquah-based group’s Pied Piper program. That program includes attendance to a book-based live theater performance and accompanying curriculum support of the classroom.

Other recipients of grant support included the American Red Cross of Snohomish County, the Lynnwood Food Bank and Clothes for Kids.
