Edmonds Arts Fest Foundation benefit
The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation’s festival preview party, the Artists of Tomorrow Benefit, is 7 p.m. until dusk June 13 at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds.
The event will raise funds to support future artists at a time when arts education is waning.
While EAFF has long provided scholarships and grants to public schools, members feel it is important to raise additional funds during these difficult times.
In addition to helping support arts education, benefit attendees will be the first to view the EAF Juried Galleries, including the 1,000-piece Student Art Gallery. EAF is one of very few art festivals in the nation to showcase student art.
Tickets are $50 per person, $25 of which will benefit local arts education projects. Tickets are available at www.eaffoundation.org/tickets or email benefit@eaffoundation.org for more information.
Society announces newest murals
The Edmonds Mural Society has announced the three murals it will be mounting this summer.
The finalists are: John Osgood’s “Untitled”; Ellen Clark’s “Edmonds Entertains”; and Susan Babcock’s “Winter Walk.”
Each year, the members choose a theme and artists present concepts that capture that theme in a mural. For 2012, the members chose the theme “An Edmonds Kind of Day.”
The murals are chosen through a six-month -ong, three stage elimination process.
The Edmonds Mural Society has raised 11 murals to date, all in the downtown Edmonds area. The Mural Society funds the murals through membership dues and donations.
To become a member, go to http://edmondsmural society.org, call 425-776-3778 or visit 409 Main St., Edmonds.
