Lake Forest Park’s Animal Acres Park is transformed into the Forest of Arden for a performance of one of Shakespeare’s great romantic comedies, “As You Like It.” The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council presents this Wooden O Shakespeare Company outdoor production July 23.

Directed by Caryn Kresny and starring Lyssa Browne as Celia, Nathan Smith as Orlando and Betsy Schwartz as Rosalind, this free theatrical presentation is a lively, fun romp for young and old alike.

The Forest of Arden is an idyll paradise away from the usual confines and behaviors of the court. It’s here that Rosalind, Shakespeare’s most famous heroine, uses her wily wit and sheer personality to mend wicked hearts, redeem the wrongfully slandered and give a most unexpected lesson in love.

Wooden O Theatre Productions is a nonprofit organization founded by George Mount in 1993. They produce annual Summer Shakespeare performances across the Puget Sound. Wooden O productions appeal to a wide range of people for their innovative approach, while remaining true to the classic, poetic nature of the text.

All performances happen rain or shine. The Concert in the Park series is presented by the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council, the City of Lake Forest Park Parks Commission, and special sponsor Gary R. Marshall DDS.
